Um Mahdi

Um Mahdi

Um Mahdi have been displaced since almost 16 months from Diyala governorate, she is an old grandmother that has lost her sight since many years ago. She was living with her son that have been killed with his wife on the hands of Al Qa’ada terrorists, the terrorist have occupied the house and threw  her and her grandson ( Sajad  10 years old ) to the street. After this accident she and Sajad lived  with her neighbors for several weeks, but when the security situation has gravely deteriorated she was afraid on her grandson and she thought that there is nothing worse than death, and for this reason she decided to came to Missan where her family origin is from this governorate on the hope that she may find some far relative that may help her to raise Sajad.  Since that time no one can find her any relatives in the governorate. People from the governorate have built her a room from rock and clay in unoccupied governmental building and from that day she and her grandson lived on what people bring to them of food or money. Through Todia organization the UNOCHA have supply this women and child with the all necessary NFIs that will be of great benefit to her during all the year season. She cried and was unable to express her feeling to  the staff of the organization for  taking care of her after all that period of indifference to her situation from the governmental or non governmental institutions. Todia staff has done of a field visit to her and on the second day her story was on the table of the governor who promised to supply all the possible governmental durable solution to her as soon as possible.
