Um Mahdi have been displaced
since almost 16 months from Diyala governorate, she is an old grandmother that
has lost her sight since many years ago. She was living with her son that have
been killed with his wife on the hands of Al Qa’ada terrorists, the terrorist
have occupied the house and threwher
and her grandson ( Sajad10 years old )
to the street. After this accident she and Sajad lived with her neighbors for several weeks, but when
the security situation has gravely deteriorated she was afraid on her grandson
and she thought that there is nothing worse than death, and for this reason she
decided to came to Missan where her family origin is from this governorate on
the hope that she may find some far relative that may help her to raise Sajad. Since that time no one can find her any
relatives in the governorate. People from the governorate have built her a room
from rock and clay in unoccupied governmental building and from that day she
and her grandson lived on what people bring to them of food or money. Through
Todia organization the UNOCHA have supply this women and child with the all necessary
NFIs that will be of great benefit to her during all the year season. She cried
and was unable to express her feeling tothe staff of the organization for taking care of her after all that period of
indifference to her situation from the governmental or non governmental
institutions. Todia staff has done of a field visit to her and on the second day
her story was on the table of the governor who promised to supply all the possible
governmental durable solution to her as soon as possible.
